Dr Schachter will be speaking at the ACAM Fall 2008 conference (for ACAM members), the main topic of this conference being Integrative Approaches in Oncology. Dr. Schachter will highlight the confusion that patients face when trying to decide between the conflicting opinions of conventional oncologists and integrative physicians, and how to empower the patient to make decisions based on the best available information.

How to Make Decisions
About Cancer Treatment

Cancer Awareness Research Exchange

United Methodist Church, Ridgewood, NJ

March 12th, 2009, 7 PM to 10 PM

Dr. Schachter will speak about how cancer patients and their loved ones can make informed decisions about both conventional and less conventional approaches to cancer. Often cancer patients are given widely differing opinions from conventional physicians and health practitioners who advocate the importance of diet, lifestyle and less invasive and less toxic treatment procedures. What's best? What's just hype? A variety of complementary/alternative medical treatments will be discussed.

CARE (Cancer Awareness Research Exchange) is a non-profit support and information organization formed to help people make intelligent decisions about their treatment, to facilitate awareness of the latest progress in all fields, and share experiences and concerns with those in similar circumstances.

CARE meetings are open to all medical professionals, patients, students, care-givers, and to those who wish to increase their knowledge in order to help others.
